Dubai Marina is one of the city’s great views, and it looks best from the water: towers on both sides, their lights and reflections running across the marina. A cruise is the easiest way to take it in.

There is a choice of boats. The catamaran is the lightest and most affordable; the Alexandra and Sea Lounge cruises go out on a traditional wooden dhow; and the Lotus Megayacht is the five-star version, with a premium package that includes alcoholic drinks.
