The essentials

Original passport (valid for a minimum of 6 months from the date of travel)
UAE residence visa (valid for a minimum of 3 months)
2 passport-size pictures (white background)
Letter from the employer stating salary and position, with company stamp
If self-employed, a trade licence is required, plus a self-introduction letter on company letterhead with a stamp
Invitation letter from China (business purpose)
Trade licence copy

For some nationalities — Pakistan, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Morocco, Syria, Iran — an invitation from a Chinese company approved by the government is required (with barcode).
Otherwise, a normal invitation letter from the Chinese company and an ID copy of the invitee.
